Sediment and intrusive plants.

Goodwives River near Kings Hwy N, near Goodwives Shopping Center.
Darien does not use a pipeline to drain the town. Like many small towns it drains storm water though natural creeks and rivers. When sediment forms and intrusive plants take over, the natural waterways used for urban drainage are compromised. During storm events in 2007 the water rose above the concrete wall, flooding the Goodwives Center parking lot at businesses next to it.
